What is Midlife Mojo? And why would you want to find it?
The word mojo has a few meanings.
It can be a good luck charm or a magic power. It also means self-confidence and self-assuredness.
The ability to bounce back from a negative situation.
I define Midlife Mojo as when you embrace all life's opportunities for more fun, more health, more adventure, more money, more freedom with excitement, curiosity, passion and energy. You wake up raring to start the day and go after dreams. You are comfortable with yourself when you look in the mirror. You feel fulfilled with what you are doing in your career. Your sex life is red hot. You are proud of your healthy, fit body. You surround yourself with supportive people. You take risks and try new things. You've learned to say no. You put you first.
Losing your mojo doesn't just happen open overnight. It is an accumulation of compromises we make, opportunities we pass up, draining people we allow into our life, old traumas we never healed. It's marriages that fall apart. Raising a family putting our needs below everyone else. We lose our mojo little by little when we don't speak our truth and use our voice for fear of sounding stupid or uninteresting, offending someone, thinking no one would listen or believe you or just being too intimidated. The wear and tear on our body's over 40, 50, 60 years can make us feel older than we are. Poor health and decreased physical conditioning as we age prevents us from doing activities we once loved. Our sex life has either become routine or virtually non existent. We become uncomfortable in our own skin and start to hide under big clothes and refuse to be in photos. Losing our mojo is like becoming invisible.
